Confession - EYE CANDY & Dress Sense

This really is like some silly secret confession I should have made uber duper long ago...

YES, I am happily attached and in a meaningful relationship but, since the other day when a friend of mine lamented and wrote in the papers MY PAPER - to be exact that Singapore lacks good-looking guys as some eye candy for us ladies..

I had to agree.

I SMS-ed to thank her for the article, cos it seems like a long overdue article.. that some Alpha-Female (representative of us, the female population) ought to speak up on behalf of us - Crudos to Her! Cos in her article, she stated a fact, SG gals are quite into the dressing up thingy... so no matter how frugly she is, she is not too bad in terms of dressing K!

Well, I felt the need to contribute my two cents' worth here at my own space...
So here goes,
Singaporean men are generally slackers, in particular, their dress sense.

Even my man does not put in effort to coordinate his get-up unless
A) there is a wedding function
B) there is a formal business function

if not, on 99% of the days, most guys I observe are wearing stuff that makes them look like they just came from the slums or out of bed (btw, the out-of-bed look is officially passe)!

Sure, comfy clothes are most important, no arguments about that one but c'mon... can SG guys ever...like EVER surprise us, ladies.. with some fashion sense and grooming and dedication?

Instead of asking us to buy magazines to oogle or scan thru for good-lookers or guys who bother to dress up instead of down?

I am not asking for some toy boy looking fella or some hunky dude... NNoooOOOoooooooo!

I am merely stating a fact. SG guys either are slackers in dressing or they overdo with all the floral patterns. (I can attest to that, I know of a guy who takes to pink and flowery patterns!!! ITS SHOCKING. But he is not gay!)

So guys, can you bring on the Get-up and Bring it On sometimes?

Very sian one leh.... I am just looking... nothing else but sadly, got nothing much to look at lor! I just need some easy-lookers on the eye.. which u guys do that all the time... we ladies, we just don't say it out... but we appreciate some too!

Had a Good Workout

The INCREDIBLE FAMILY!
Thank you DAN for lending us your place and gym as we terrorised the machines, I had a good workout, thought about things while running and I think, the best way out.. is to let nature take its course, no point rushing things.

And for now, I think I lost a friend, I know I cannot please everyone but well, its the safest and wisest choice I think I will make now. I much rather please God and lose a friend than have a friend and live with the guilt, no point making mistakes again.

With age, we should be learning from our mistakes.. not re-living them. BUT it has been a struggle for me.

Friends will come and go BUT family.. Family, they stick with you! And am glad to be able to claim to be a good big sister, setting the right example to the younger ones.

Conclusion: Running is good to clear the mind of nonsense & helps u stay in shape as your body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost... =)

Thanks for the encouragements people! The Encouragements did Wonders!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY & Stay Incredible!!!

If I got to...

Today has been a torture.. probably I chose to walk down this road
This road filled with pot holes, quick sand and pure glass shreds
my feet are bruised as I walked..my mind tired
as I cannot decide what to do

I know I am sinking, but I am not calling out for Help
neither am I searching for the Vine of Life nor a pair of strong hands
to lift me out, to give me a helping hand.

Still, I thank God for my Life
for the nuances that fill my Life
whether they choose to stay or walk on by

...the Song Hosanna keeps playing in my head now,

I just wanna run away
Run and get lost
in the moment
to be forever caught up in that moment!

Then maybe pay dearly for it
or maybe not...

For now, I think I passed.. passed.. PASSED!
Or maybe I am just plain idiotic?

Pain... stay away
Love... come my way! I need your LOVE Lord!
Hear my desperation...
My exsperation..
Deal with me.
Need to run... going running tonight!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HONSANNA
Verse 1
I see the king of glory
Coming down the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes, the whole earth shakes
I see his love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing, the people sing
Chorus
Hosanna hosanna
Hosanna in the highest (x2)
Verse 2
I see a generation
Rising up to take the place
With selfless faith, with selfless faith
I see a new revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees, we're on our knees
Bridge
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
This Weekend... Hosanna
Oh yeah.... you are not seeing things, I am blogging on a weekend night (usually I don't as I really wanna rest, you see) BUT... this entire weekend has been most interesting for me. A series of concidences OR the Big Fella up there decided to play a humorous prank on me, well... Ok, what I am saying is, I wrote the entry entitled BASICS and this whole weekend, the message is about the same as what I wrote... such a concidence, for both Ps Apelles Poh and Ps Alfred Ang (of Emmanuel Assembly), the former spoke of sound financial advise as well as letting go of past, being a good steward (strike a balance in investments) as well as have a giving spirit, exactly what Ps Alfred emphasize today in service as well. Forgive even if people don't come up to you and say "Sorry" (you know, there is a song that goes.. Sorry seems to be the hardest word.. indeed for mankind.) We all got to...Let go... reconcile, let God deal with you. The song entitled by Hillsong really ministered to me in particular today. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfiacfoxSwc (hope you will love this song too!) I don't have time to waste by getting angry... my life on earth is precious and fleeting, I am built to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, not stay angry! So why should I waste time and energy doing so??? Thank God for Mummy, Daddy, Abel and Daniel.... soon to be Auntie Eunice & David too!
Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often - Book Review
I read the above book over a period of 2 weeks, digested a lot of stuff, been reminded of yet a lot more things as well.
Importantly, I benefited from this book alot.. cos the author, sure reads a lot too, we cannot just sit and hope for "heavenly inspiration" when writing esp. a book.
Book writing is 5% Heavenly inspiration & 95% sweat!
Its not easy! Trust me, I am still compiling my Poetry over the last 10 years and hoping they will be published someday. Ha!
The book I am reviewing today is LIVE WELL, LOVE MUCH, LAUGH OFTEN..by Apelles Poh. (for more on apelles poh, click here.)
Irony is, we need books like this to inspire us, to gingerly remind us that Life, along with all its crazy antics of deadlines, appointments, schedules and what nots is meant to be enjoyed in a balanced sort of way!
This book teaches us how to grab Life by the horns, face the challenges it poses to us in the best possible way and yet still SHINE in our work, embrace Success that comes along with effort and joy and PASSION that you ought to put into your work and walk TALL with integrity without forgetting to love your loved ones, enjoy them while you can!
We are truly more than conquerors in Christ!
This book gets a 4.5/5 Stars from me, I would have given it Full Marks if it had a bit more illustrations and / or pictures. ok... Okay, so I am a graphic person, but can you blame me? =p
Basics
Week in and out, we listen to sermons, cell materials that talk about what God wants and sometimes it gets to be the same old, same old... but can I request that each of us reflect, especially after the short sharing below. Let us reflect... on our lives, take stock, see the mistakes that can be glaring at us in the face but we choose to ignore it, STOP ignoring and pretending everything is pink and rosy, when its not. E.g. raising our voices at our parents, is that right? Go back to the Basics of all Basics... please make a real SINCERE difference in wanting to LIVE for CHRIST, don't offer lip service only! God does not NEED THAT... NEITHER does HE want that. ~~~~~~~~~~ You know the thing about being young, is that you think that all that you do, you can get away with it. True to some extent, BUT no matter how fast or hard you run, your mistakes sometimes have a way of coming back to haunt you! Its deliberate! Oh yes it is...de javu incident happens As God needs us to mature thru a series of setbacks and tests to proclaim our faith in Him.. to lead victorious Lives inspite of the situation facing us. We need to take a grip of ourselves Count our Blessings HOLD ON to the belief and hope that your prayers will be answered in this lifetime. We need to be tactful to the people around us, cause we are adults We ARE Responsible for our tongue WE NEED TO Edify and Encourage more often The human spirit needs to be reassured to be appreciated, its in-built into us, we all need and crave for attention. And in the right doses.. such appreciation and encouragement goes a long way, in motivating someone Today! So Be Generous with Praise! Think Before You Speak think because you do not want to stumble people's growth... be slow to response because you weigh out the consequences in your head first Hear... Listen carefully, every single word needs to be heard before you respond and don't jump the gun thus pulling a trigger on someone before he / she has finished speaking If you cannot hear properly, ask the person to repeat themselves... RESPECT your elders Respect those older than you cos they have experienced life RESPECT Authority As they are there to protect and guide you Respect not because you feel like it BUT because you have to Respect each other and what gender differences may bring.. e.g. no lewd jokes in front of girls and underage peeps is a great example. For RESPECT teaches you to be HUMBLE Humility + a Teachable Spirit will PROPEL you to greatness! Haughty Spirits and Pride Take you no where BUT to your eventual downfall... LEARN THE BASICS... Its What God Intended so... For a Successful Life that is well intended for you & a Walking Testimony THAT SHINES for HIM! Ask yourself: - Have you respected your elders this week? > If not, tell them you are sorry.. - Have you gone out of line in your daily talk? > You think you know better... perhaps not, seek forgiveness... - Have you miscommunicated and need to seek forgiveness? > If you misinterpreted something, maybe its time to make amends.. the first move needs only courage - Have you Praise someone who is doing something for you & you have taken for granted? > Its not just your leaders that need this, family and friends too... - Have you despaired over your cirsumstance for too long? > Then maybe its time to Let Go & LET GOD..HE who created you can surly take better control of the situation than you! - Have you been driving on your own for so long that you forgotten what does it feel like to have God sit beside you? > Its time for you to come back into the House of the Lord & FELLOWSHIP. - Are you facing a seemingly bleak future or perhaps are confused? > Then allow GOD to be your FIRST RESOURCE rather than your last resort. Talk to HIM, his number is 1900-GOD HELP ME!
Lesson of the Day for me!
Daniel became a reader of self-improvement and enrichment books only after we started dating! (during and after he joined an MLM)....I am a long time fan of reading cos I am geeky!
But THE BEST things we have learnt is: READING & LEARNING
1) Keep reading so your mind is renewed and you will keep improving
2) Sometimes in good books, you are offered great solutions!
3) It helps you to stay ahead and be creative...
And that MLM always teaches us:
A) The best ASSET you have is - Your SMILE! For when you smile, you instantly light up. Even over the phone...
B) The POWER OF Believe! Yes, you just got to keep believing in what you can achieve and in the laws of attraction, attracting the right people into your life who can help you and empower you!
C) POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD! (Daniel's mentor, a Christian Businessman, also believes in this... cos it works, so do I believe in this!!)
D) Power of association... Mix with the right company and you will have a network set for life...
